The Nassau County Police Department announced that Anyibel Madera, age 23, of Freeport, was arrested and charged with conspiracy and criminal facilitation for her role in the death of Long Beach resident James Diamond.

Freeport Police officers were dispatched to a stretch of South Bay Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10, where there was a report of a man who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The investigation into the fatal shooting led detectives to identify three men - Freeport residents Corey Grier, age 27, Eric Baldwin, age 25, and Middle Island resident Todd Brant, age 20 - as suspects, who were arrested in Nassau County on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

It is alleged that the suspects sought to rob Diamond, who was pulled out of a car at gunpoint with another passenger before he was shot in the stomach and robbed of his cash.

Investigators announced the arrest of Madera late on Thursday, Nov. 4 as the investigation continues. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, Nov. 5 in First District Court in Hempstead.

According to police, more arrests are expected as part of the ongoing investigation, with at least one more suspect at large.
